Tonight you have the pleasure of listening to Jeff Konopka, Shawn Savage and Heather Seebach (guest from *Viewer Discretion Advised) take on the new Total Recall remake and discuss the original flick. Will it live up to the original? Let these folks fill you in on what’s what. While I haven’t seen the remake I can let you know that I, like so many geeky three boob observing Sci Fi dorks before me, love the Arnold original. Three boobs. Quaid. Give them the Air! You pick your favorite quote, special effect, action sequence and you’ll have a discussion with your peers in no time. Oh, and don’t be a hater until you’ve at least experienced this remake yourself. That’s prejudice (soap box time).
Take a listen and figure out where you stand. If you haven’t seen the original Total Recall, there will be some spoilers from the get go (after the weekly watching recap). Since there’s a discussion of the remake to follow, you’ll most likely find that spoiled as well. See the movies. Listen to the discussion and make sure to ask yourself the usual remake questions and renew the debate as to whether Hollywood has given up on new ideas. Check out the trailer if you are unfamiliar with this one.
Now let’s discuss what everyone’s watching:
Shawn is looking forward to the sequel of Star Trek from JJ Abrams. Who would have predicted that? (note: I think it’s a bad ass flick as well).
He got some steal books of Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. Nice pick up.
He likes Season 6 of Dexter more than Season 5. Season 5 is the lesser of the six. I’m sure you Hackers fans will disagree.
He also watched Bronson on Netflix Instant and had previously watched it and then went on a Rocky binge (also all on Netflix Instant).
Shawn also watched The Shark Is Still Working. We’ve all been waiting for this one and boy was it worth it.
Lockout with Guy Pierce has his seal of approval. He “fucking loves it”.
Lovely Molly has great atmosphere but doesn’t connect the dots.
Heather compares REC3 to Army of Darkness and thinks its a smart pic. (Shawn agrees).
Killer Joe… really, really… FUCKED UP MOVIE. We’ve been hearing good things about this one.
Enjoys Breaking Bad and True Blood (although not as much as Breaking Bad). Shawn and Jeff both watched this as well.
Jeff has been watching Breaking Bad and loves it and wants you to watch it and love it too.
Also, Buffy the Vampire Slayer… all the seasons. He digs it.
He also got to watch the 35mm print at the Dryden Theater of JAWS. He’ll be picking up the Blu Ray soon, but boy did he have a good time. Crowd experience can definitely change a movie.
