Next to Blue Ruin, Adam Wingard’s new film The Guest is my next most anticipated movie of the year. I don’t care what you say, I’ve loved almost everything this man has touched, and this one looks completely badass. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Wingard gave us the phenomenal You’re Next last year, as well as the unbearably tense A Horrible Way To Die in 2010. I don’t known a lot about The Guest, other than it is being sold as an action/horror/revenge hybrid, and the behind-the-scenes photos that I’ve seen make it look very awesome. Check out the teaser below, and look for The Guest in theaters(select, I would imagine) starting in September. It’s well within the realm of possibility that we’ll see a VOD release around the same time, unless this gets wide theatrical distribution.
Directed by Adam Wingard
Written by Simon Barrett
Starring Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe, Leland Orser, Sheila Kelley, Brendan Meyer and Lance Reddick
From the director of YOU’RE NEXT and featuring a standout, badass performance from Dan Stevens (“Downton Abbey”), comes THE GUEST: a tense, action-packed and unpredictable film like everything and nothing you’ve ever seen before. Empire Magazine called it “a demented action-horror hybrid of sci-fi conspiracy thriller and gore-fest”, and Vanity Fair US said, “THE GUEST is big, it’s bold, it’s badass, full of flavor Hollywood wishes it could pour over its vanilla blockbusters.”
A soldier (Dan Stevens) introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.
THE GUEST visits theaters this September. Let us know if you’ll be letting him in.
