When grizzled war veteran Ambrose (STAKE LAND’s Nick Damici), moves into the Crescent Bay retirement community, he’s discovers that some local residents have been dying not from old age, but from a series of mysterious, vicious dog attacks. After his own house is attacked in the night by the animals, Ambrose sets his military mind to tracking them down. The gruesome army of awakened Nazi Zombies from fan favourite DEAD SNOW once again return to terrorize the Norwegian countryside! In this crowd-pleasing zombie action comedy follow-up, Martin, the sole survivor of the first movie, must join forces with an American zombie hunter (cult favourite FREAKS AND GEEKS’ Martin Starr) and a reanimated squad of dead Russians if he is to try to defeat the undead Nazi horde and their evil commander!
At the heart of the ABCs of Death series is something I absolutely cherish about horror cinema; the ability to take a short story and convey an idea that terrifies (or if we’re lucky grosses out). It strips out the bullshit ie all those love plots and pieces of character development that are wholly unnecessary […]
For many horror fans, zombie movies have become too prevalent in the independent horror cinema landscape. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that the mere mention of the subgenre makes many cringe. For whatever reason, filmmakers working with a restricted budget seem to think that their best option is to try their […]
HELLMOUTH (Canada) World Premiere
From the twisted mind of writer Tony Burgess (PONTYPOOL) comes a stunning, spectacular ode to classic horror and fantasy. HELLMOUTH tells the tale of gravekeeper Charlie Baker, (WATCHMEN’s Stephen McHattie) assigned to tend to a mysterious cemetery. Charlie’s routine journey to his new place of employment turns out to be a dark and fantastic voyage through a Gothic landscape, filled with demonic forces, and a life-altering encounter with a beautiful woman he must try to rescue from the bowels of hell.
Saturday marked the third day of Toronto After Dark 2014, and as is customary on the weekend, there were three separate screening blocks (as opposed to the standard two during the weekdays). Saturday at TADFF also usually means Zombie Appreciation Night, so you generally know that you are going to get at least two films featuring the […]
Friday was Day Two of Toronto After Dark 2014, and the theater was packed for both of the evenings screenings. HELLMOUTH had its World Premiere, ABCs OF DEATH 2 had its Toronto Premiere, and the sold out crowds were cheering and ready for both movies. It’s kind of a big deal that both of these […]
An action-packed coming of age werewolf tale from David Hayter (writer of X-MEN, X-MEN 2) pitting Lucas Till (X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST) against Jason Momoa (GAME OF THRONES). Director Hayter, also known as the voice of Snake in the best-selling Metal Gear Solid game series, will be in attendance for a lively Q&A with fans at this special North American Premiere Screening!
Screens with short film ROSE IN BLOOM
It’s that time of year again… The weather is getting chilly, the leaves are changing colors and falling from the trees, and everyone is in full Halloween mode. Fall is my favorite time of year for all of those reasons; and also because it means that Toronto After Dark is upon us.
Richard Bates Jr. follows up his acclaimed horror film EXCISION with a supernatural comedy about an unemployed graduate (CRIMINAL MINDS’ Matthew Gray Gubler) who returns to his small-town family home, only to encounter a vengeful ghost and a mystery that must be solved before everyone’s lives are lost. A spooktacular treat of a movie, SUBURBAN GOTHIC features an endearingly quirky script with numerous fan favourites in scene-stealing supporting roles, including Kat Dennings (THOR), Ray Wise (TWIN PEAKS), Jeffrey Combs (RE-ANIMATOR) and John Waters (PINK FLAMINGOS).
The full lineup of films for the 2014 Toronto After Dark Film Festival. Including, The Babadook, Dead Snow 2, Zombeavers, Suburban Gothic, ABCS of Death 2, Wyrmwood, Let Us Prey, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, and many, many more.
