The news spread throughout the web yesterday in an outcry of rage from angry fans due to an interview with Chuck Norris commenting about the film aiming for a PG-13 rating per his request. The interview with Norris included comments discussing the language in the film being his issue for the most part. Here is the comment:
“In ‘Expendables 2’, there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. For this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But I don’t play in movies like this. Due to that, I said I wouldn’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13.”
Well, unfortunately it looks like it wasnt just a dirty rumor after all.
Apparently Aint It Cool News caught up with Stallone and asked him about the matter, to which he replied:
“The PG13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry.”
So herein lies the real question. Now that it has been confirmed by Stallone himself that the PG-13 rumor is indeed true, are you still going to dish out the cash to go see it? I for one, probably will not unless this somehow ends up not being the case. Now, dont get me wrong. I have nothing against a film being PG-13 or even G for that matter. What I DO have a problem with is a film making cuts down from the way it was intended for financial reasons, or in this case per the request of an actor. If it was up to me, id say dump Norris and move forward with what we (or at least I) loved about the first film and keep the sequel the way it should be. But it looks like hes staying and so the PG-13 rating along with him.
‘The Expendables 2’ hits theatres August 17 of this year from Lionsgate Films!
