So you say that the entire later half of John Carpenter’s career is a wash… You didn’t like Escape from L.A. no matter how fun it was and no matter how seriously you weren’t supposed to take it. You like to sight Memoirs of the Invisible Man and Village of the Damned and Body Bags as your ammunition for playing the hater when it comes to the later day works of the great JC… If you’re that guy, the hater, and you’re going to honestly tell me that John Carpenter’s Vampires didn’t spark a fever pitch neo-gothic western boner in your pants I’m afraid you may be a cinema eunuch. Today the Dead Air crew in the continuing John Carpenter Retrospective series are talking about James Woods going bat shit crazy with a motley crew of weapon wielding vamp hunters sent by the Vatican and low and behold, there’s a big ol’ double cross and the big bad bat emerges. This is an episode to listen to and enjoy and truly understand that A. JC ain’t done yet. B. Vampires movies don’t have to have sparkly critters without shirts on to be entertaining.
Remember, there are definitely spoilers. No plot will be spared. Either watch the movie before you listen to the podcast or listen to the podcast and avoid the suffering that might happen if you should actually watch the movie.
