Welcome to the next retrospective series from the Dead Air crew featuring all four films in the Critters franchise. Four movies you say? Yes. There were four movies made. Sure we all know about the glowing red eyes outside of the Browns’ window that scared the Stone out of Dee Wallace. We are all familiar with the Easter Bunny as played by the local sheriff, Easter Sunday at the Hungry Heffer and the Easter Eggs from the crazy vegetarian lady who gave Carob bunnies to kids in lieu of chocolate. But what of the latter day tomes that offer us a deeper understanding of Charlie? What of the mating habits of the urban Crite? If you think you’ve seen it all. If Critters only has two movies in your humble opinion, Leonardo DiCaprio disagrees.
This week we have the first installment in the Critters Retrospective Series featuring the original 1986 picture. The film that made rural living look overrated, unsafe and potentially dangerous to en vogue hairstyles across the great planet MTV. Jeff Konopka, Shawn Savage and Jimmy Terror try to get to the bottom of Prison Asteroid 17. It’s a discussion of music and of babes (royal and country girl alike). Critters ain’t the new Gremlins. It’s the new Critters.
