I attended the Dead Winter Con and had a really great time. I made some new friends and ran into some old ones. I didn’t see any mention of Sal Lizard the Vampire Santa. Did you not see him?

A friend and I made the trek from Nashville, TN. It was a geat day, and they really did the show up good. With actors portraying Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, etc and having epic battles, photoshoots, etc. The vendors and guests were great, all in all it was a great time. I look forward to making it next year as well.

just my opinion. I have nothing against slow burn thrillers. I thought The Innkeepers was amazing, also really loved the last Hammer release i saw, Wake Wood. I just wasnt feeling this one at all. Im far from the opinion that every horror film needs to be saw-esque. Its one thing to be a slow burn thriller, its another to be boring. Im not saying everyone will agree with me, but i know others who have seen it who do. Dont think i was expecting some action packed gorefest, because that wasnt the case, and i have seen many slow burn thrillers i absolutely loved. Everyone is allowed an opinion

I’m afraid I have to wholeheartedly disagree on this one, and as far as I can tell by the many raves I’ve heard, others would as well. As far as ghost stories go, it’s my opinion that this is a pretty fine piece of film making. Yes, there are some jump scares, but that is to be expected in a movie that is such a slow burn. Ghost stories aren’t meant to be Saw-esque, action-packed gore-fests. They are meant to evoke a creepy sense of “what’s that behind you?”, and I think The Woman in Black does it fairly well. You are certainly right about the gorgeous scenery and palpable atmosphere, it’s fantastic. I just happen to think the film does its job, and well.
And as far as the story being original, it is utterly so. It is taken from its source novel of the same name.
Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree

They’re on an island. They don’t know there’s a shark until the first attack, and then the only reason they get back into the lake is to try and get their dying friend to a hospital. There is no post-shark attack swimming.
