“Browned Footage” or “Paranormal Activity 4”

OK True Believers! The time has come once again for another entry into the Paranormal Activity Franchise. It’s the movie/s I look forward to each Halloween, now that the Saw films have finally given up the ghost as it were…

Now, if you’re like me, you’re probably equal parts confused and excited by these movies.  Or, maybe not. Maybe you just wonder how silly putty picks shit up from comic books. Anyway, they tend to have an extremely non-linear story-line that would make Quentin Tarantino Scuzm in his pants.

So for what it’s worth I will be including an info-graph-magoria-picture in this review to help you primitive screw-heads keep up to speed. You’re welcome.

Now before I jump into 4, we’re gonna have a quick break down of 1-3:

Paranormal Activity (2007) – After moving into a suburban home, a couple (Katie and Micah) become/s increasingly disturbed by a nightly demonic presence.

Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) – After experiencing what they think are a series of “break-ins”, a family (consisting of Kristi – Katie’s sister, her husband Daniel, daughter Ali, son Hunter and some crazy-ass cleaning lady) sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem.

Paranormal Activity 3 (2011) – In 1988, young sisters Katie and Kristi befriend an invisible entity who resides in their home.

Now, the info-graph-magoria-picture will help you with the timeline because, I don’t completely understand it myself. What I’m here to tell you, and what you really need to take from parts 1 – 3 is this:

Katie has REALLY nice jugs…

and no matter how many times you pause, zoom and/or rewind, she won’t show them to you…

He ain’t lyin’!

Honestly, the only thing you need to know about 1-3 is [SPOILER ALERT!] that Katie and Kristi was/is/are being followed, tortured and/or molested by some type of malevolent-esque force type thing that they may or may not have made a deal or pact with or without the help and/or consent of their Satanic Grandmother. OOHHHH and a house burned down…

Now onto the new shizot…

It has been five years since the disappearance of Katie and Hunter (circa PA 2 on timeline), and a suburban family witness strange events in their neighborhood when a woman and a mysterious child move in.

Now, I won’t reveal the plot details because what fun would that be? However, I will give you my overall thoughts on this film. I think it’s fun. There’s a lot of humor in it compared to the others. They also went back to a slower burn for this flick as far as the scary goes. There seems to be a lot of mystery in this movie (if you ask me) as far as the “Mysterious Child” is concerned. I like the fact that they are trying to do more than just slam doors these days.

Another factor I enjoy is the advancement of the technology used in this film (Mac users will chuckle a lot – non Mac users will miss out). However, Microsoft gets their foot in the door as well with the X-Box-glow-in-the-dark-motion-capture-dots-on-the-wall-with-night-vision stuff…

As always, Katie brings the girls along for some torture. She’s getting pretty good at her Creepy walk. It’s fun to watch her come into her own and enjoy being a bad-ass monster/woman/thing (with nice boobs).

Now, I will admit that this probably isn’t the strongest of the films, but it does move the story forward a bit and that’s a good thing. As any respectable Horror Flick does, PA4 answers 2 questions and gives you 3 more.  Also, the last 10 minutes give you some pulse-pounding scary moments that fans will definitely enjoy. Always leave them wanting more.

I suggest this movie to any fan of the series and 3 out of 4 Dentists. I won’t give away anymore details but I do suggest you stick around after the end credits for some more fun.

And, as promised, see below for the info-graph-magoria-picture to help you answer any other questions you may have. And below the info-graph-magoria-picture are some links to further your quest for knowledge.

Now, shut up and go watch this movie…
