Brightburn gained notoriety by coming to light as a film produced by James Gunn, right in the middle of the Gunn controversy. I’m not sure it would have gotten much attention had he not been attached to it. It is an interesting concept, but one that has been done in numerous comic books. Brightburn is basically what would happen if Superman grew up evil. An alien with mighty power crashes into earth and is raised by a surrogate family. But there won’t be any service to mankind here, just blood and chaos. I really enjoyed Brightburn, it’s dark and gory and delivers what it promises. I am looking forward to revisiting the film when SONY releases it to home video on the 20th of August. If you just can’t wait for that, the film becomes available on digital on the 6th of August. See the official press release below for further details.
