Hey there, fellow horror fanatics! This week we are getting a decent assortment of Blus that will keep you entertained. Hopefully you can pull yourself away from Batman: Arkham City long enough to enjoy some of the titles coming out. I don’t blame you if you are unable to though, from what I hear, that game is the SHIT!
I’m a sucker for animated films based on comics. Specifically I am a sucker for DC, they are more character driven then say Marvel. Dark Horse is good as well, but I am getting off topic. Like most of these films, it’s built off the fiction of past graphic novels/series. Frank Miller wrote the original series, which I have read and find sophisticated in it’s themes. I need to see this, as do you!
Finally! I feel like this film should have been released awhile ago, but hey, at least it is here now. I would love to see the transfer for this, I hope they (Image) didn’t butcher the quality of the film. NOLTE!
I might get flack for saying this, but I think that The Crow is just…alright. I recently re-watched this, and it feels a little dated to me. It’s an interesting and unique film for sure, but I was never crazy about. I also think that anyone who is into this movie already knows about this release. For fans, it’s probably a must buy. You get to see Lee in full HD.
This is a dumb movie, but it’s a dumb movie that I had fun watching. There were some effectively creepy scenes and unintended jokes that kept me entertained. The tooth-fairy as a monster? A great idea that just wasn’t executed as well as it could have been. At least it wasn’t as bad as Dead Silence.
There is already a 25th anniversary edition on Blu, that is a far better set. View it here. If you don’t want to spend $20, then this re-release is for you ($9.49). If you’re a big fan, go with the other edition. Just saying.
I don’t have anything against reboots or remakes, as long as they are well done. But fuck man, the trailer for this film makes this new entry to the series look like shit.
Shawn wrote a review for the film, you can read it here. He seemed to half-like it. So there you go.
I liked this film, didn’t love it, but it’s worth a watch and maybe a buy. I wrote a review for the site, and you can check it out here. The film starts out strong but at some point, it loses itself in the narrative and makes some poor decisions. Check it out though, lots of fun. I mean, there are killer clowns. What else do you need?
Don’t write off this film. It might not be a pure Kevin Smith film (what he normally does) but it’s a great politically and socially driven film that is backed by powerful performances. I wrote a review for the Bloodsprayer, read it here. Ted Brown, of this site, also reviewed it and you can read that here. I think Ted and I agree that this film is something of importance for the year. BUY!
