It always brings me great pleasure to see a interesting and well done horror series on network TV, unfortunately so many of them seem to be cancelled right off the bat and rarely have the opportunity to delve into the story’s core and truly prove themselves to be the remarkable series they have the potential of developing into. For fans of the new ABC series ‘666 Park Avenue’ such as myself, bad news has surfaced. ABC has officially cancelled the series along with fellow new series ‘Last Resort’ (from Shawn Ryan, creator of ‘The Shield’)!
It’s always a sad day when a great new series get’s the axe, and i really felt ‘666 Park Avenue’ was starting to develop into a truly unique and entertaining series. Unfortunately the cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering the shows mediocre ratings. It certainly is not the first time ABC cancelled a great horror series either (who can forget the phenomenal ‘Happy Town’). While the news of this cancellation as well as the cancellation of ‘Last Resort’ comes as bad news to fans of both series’ there is a small piece of good news in addition to the bad. While the plug has officially been pulled on both series, ABC has confirmed that they will still air all 13 of the produced episodes for both as opposed to pulling them off the air prematurely. It is a shame to see both of these shows go as i am personally a fan of both. Let’s hope the next batch of great shows to come along don’t see the same fate.
‘666 Park Avenue’ currently airs Sundays at 10/9c on ABC and is based on the novel of the same name by Gabriella Pierce, though there are truly no similarities of any sort aside from the title and a few character names.
